A Glimpse into WISers TV, an Editor’s Point of View

By Nguyễn Long Huy Steve

November 24, 2008, I was born into this world. September 9, 2024, I discovered WisersTV was open for member recruitment. I’ve never done anything like this before, and I’m nearing the end of my highschool years, so I thought “why don’t I try my luck and apply to join?” Then, on September 29, I received an acceptance email saying that I was officially an editor for WisersTV; I was in complete disbelief and immense joy. These are the 3 most important events in my life (and every other member's life too). So I presume you’re dying to know: what has been going on with the school’s only journalistic club recently, and what do we have in store for the new year?

Behind the scenes…

WISersTV Tet Broadcast

To set off, I’ll let you have a sneak peek into how WTV operates. Broadcasts are usually filmed in midday under the noon heat. In the most recent issue of the broadcast, everyone involved in the production team had to work together to try to make a good product in a room with no air conditioning. You can imagine how hot it was. This goes to show that WisersTV put a lot of effort into our work. We don’t give up easily and are determined to give students the best possible product.

Member’s feelings of being a part of WTV

Next up, let’s interview some members with me to have more understanding of our working ethics/ environment/ experience. WisersTV has brilliant leaders, and takes pride in a cheerful and friendly working environment. When our members were asked for their thoughts on being a part of the team, here’s what they had to say:

“I think WisersTV is a pretty tough journey, but in that hardship sometimes we find joy. It's the joy of creating products, it's the joy of working with everyone.” – Quang Nhật, Creative Manager.

WISersTV Newspaper Distribution

“I feel very happy because the bosses are very enthusiastic and friendly. There isn’t too much work. Overall, I really like working at WISersTV.” – Nam Phương, Reporter

WISersTV Newspaper Distribution

“I feel kind of awkward because I'm the youngest of the team. However, working in WisersTV feels special and I get to use my skills as well as improve myself from the valuable guidance.” – Thy Vân, Opinion Editor

WISersTV Semester 1 Party

“Working in WISersTV to me is a completely new experience because I have never been in any project or organization like this before, not to mention the position of a manager. Though it is sometimes so hard to try to lead a team, I have learned a lot on this journey, and am still learning now. It is also amazing to work with new people and make new connections. Overall, I have made lots of new friends and gained a lot of insights this year with WSTV, and I hope that our project continues to grow and prosper” – Nhật Phương, Editor Manager

Finally, hear from the director herself, Thảo Hiền:

WISersTV

"First and foremost, I feel incredibly grateful and happy, even though I’m constantly challenged by stressful deadlines. Beyond taking on the role of director, I also strive to try my best with the hope that others will also follow my lead. Despite the pressure, seeing our ideas come to life in the final product is deeply rewarding. I’m proud not only of the progress we’ve made as a team but also of how much everyone around me has grown. At the beginning, I think everyone was quite nervous. However, by facing challenges head-on, we started something meaningful together."

Personally, joining WTV was something entirely different and new to me too. It was something that was completely out of my comfort zone. After getting over the initial fear of the feeling of unfamiliarity, I’m glad to say that I’m happy I made the decision to become a member. I take pride in my work, and have had fun along the way in doing so as well. It does feel nice to see my name on the physical newspapers or the online website.

WTV’s ambitions for the new year

We aim to keep this train going, taking our content to greater heights, getting potentially more students to watch, enjoy, and share our content. We want WTV to become a platform that not only informs and entertains but also brings our community closer together. WTV is always open to new ideas and is dedicated to students’ experience no matter what challenges we may face. Together, we aim to overcome obstacles, embrace opportunities, and create something truly special for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to seeing new faces next year to carry the legacy onwards: the Editor Manager position is open for applications for any potential leaders next school year, training will be provided.
