Happy Run: The Race That Moves More Than Feet

By Trần Thy Vân 7.1

Get your running shoes ready, WISers... The Happy Run marathon has officially returned to Wellspring Saigon for the second time! This year, Happy Run is once again in collaboration with the Spring In My Hands charity to raise money for 25 wheelchairs to gift to children with disabilities. Taking place on the 29th of March, 2025, at Wellspring Saigon and the Saigon Pearl residential area, Happy Run aims to bring WISers an energetic, socializable marathon track to nurture their health inside and out.

Mother Teresa, the founder of Missionaries of Charity and a Catholic saint, once said, “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving." Donating to charity doesn’t mean you’re obliged to give large amounts of money or impressive gifts; it could be small, big, expensive, or inexpensive—but what matters the most is the thought put into it. In 2021, a boy named Adeola Abraham Olagbegi was granted a wish of his choice by the Make-A-Wish Foundation after his bone marrow transplant was successfully completed. However, unlike most kids his age, he chose to feed the homeless people in his area instead of wishing for a new game console or a vacation.

Hence, the foundation made his wish come true and helped him provide food every 3 Saturdays. On those Saturdays, Abraham and a group of volunteers would stand at their table named “Abraham’s Table,” handing out meals to those in need.

Similarly, Happy Run is more than a marathon track. It’s where every ticket counts. When you run, not only are you benefiting your health inside and out, but you’re also helping children with disabilities at the same time by contributing to giving 25 wheelchairs.

This year, Happy Run is offering two ticket ranks—standard and VIP. The standard tickets cost 490,000 VND per ticket and come with runner kits consisting of BIBs, medals, caps, shirts, drinks, and the opportunity to experience the new AI-powered photo search. This new perk will help us find and save the photos taken during the marathon via a face recognition AI model. The VIP tickets, however, are 990,000 VND per ticket. Its higher price comes with an extended runner kit, with additional customizable BIBs, food drinks, VIP pins, and exclusive gifts. So, what are you waiting for, WISers? Get your tickets today because the registration expires on the 15th of March!

In conclusion, the Happy Run marathon is a remarkable event, bridging our community together through strength and kindness. With every step we take during the marathon, we’re inching closer and closer to igniting the dreams of children with disabilities and giving them a chance to live life to its fullest. As a WISer myself, although I’m not particularly interested in sports, any form of cardio (except rowing) is my forte. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my friends on the race track, as well as contributing to the disabled community by helping donate 25 wheelchairs. “Set your pace, embrace wellness.”
