Happy Farm, a Call Back to Simpler Times
School field trips are always a great opportunity for students to bond with each other, learn new things, discover, and just have fun and relieve stress in general. This year, grade 11s had the chance to visit Happy Farm, a returning destination all the way back from elementary school for those who remember. And it seems like everyone can agree that they had a blast!
Trip Highlights
This was our first ‘big’ field trip since the pandemic, and Happy Farm was an excellent choice to kick it off. It offered many different activities such as row boating, and even obstacle courses. And though it did provide learning opportunities about farming, a theme park with a farm theme would be a more accurate description. We asked some students to share their personal highlights of the trip:
“My favorite moments were catching fishes and the gathering at the end of the day” – Lê Nam 11.2
“My favorite activity is the musical performances, when all classes performed their favorite songs, it was so much fun” – Ngọc Long 11.3
“(...) I especially enjoyed the moments where I was able to visit a small part of my childhood through the gimmicky toys I bought at the snacks stand.” – Hải An 11.1
Nostalgia
For nostalgia's sake, we also asked how this experience compared to the 5th grade trip last time they were here:
“(...) the facility definitely had major improvements yet they still kept the nostalgic factor alive with the more popular activities like the “cầu khỉ”” – Quốc Anh 11.2
“It was way different in a good way than the last time I went there, the bathroom situation is way better and they added the animal farm and the swimming pool which was nice!” – Lê Nam 11.2
Final Thoughts
Overall, the trip was certainly a refreshing break from the usual routine, offering students a unique opportunity to connect with rural life, try new activities, and strengthen friendships. However, some think that this could very well be our final, or at least our last few, field trip seeing as we are in our final years of highschool. In many ways, that possibility made the trip all the more special.
