Injury

Growing up, Quân had always been surrounded by football: becoming practically a part of his childhood.

“I think I must have been inspired by my dad, who was passionate about the sport,” Quân recalls the times both of them shared watching football. “Next thing I know, I’m enrolled in Ho Chi Minh City’s youth club, and competing in national competitions!”

It was during a fateful day in training in April last year that Minh Quân sustained a heavy injury to his ankles – one bad enough to keep him out of the pitch for months to come. “It was a dark time for me and our team since we were in the middle of a large tournament,” the young player remarked.

Recovery

Next came the recovery journey – and it was a grueling one. The first 3 to 4 months consisted of visits to the doctor’s office and exercises designed to help Quân walk normally again. “After that, I started meeting up with physicists – combined with moderate gym exercises,” says the young player. “There were the physical exercises that I used to build muscle with, and the movement exercises that were meant to help me regain mobility!”

Looking back, Minh Quân felt many changes that he faced on the road to recovery, both mentally and physically. “I had to do a complete 180 on my playstyle and daily routine!” Quân excitedly proclaims. “Now I’m feeling better than ever, and our team is confident in our quest for a trophy this school year!”

Despite the horrific injury he had endured, Minh Quân remained adamant in pursuing his football career. “I’m now practicing and exercising every day in preparation for tournaments,” the young player shares. “Still, I try to listen to what my body tells me and get good rest whenever needed!”. Quân then promptly emphasizes the latter point, especially for young athletes who are going through the same situation.

Looking back on his journey, Quân hopes his experience will serve as motivation for young athletes facing similar challenges. “Setbacks are only temporary if you stay determined,” he says with a smile. “The most important thing is to never give up on your passion!”

Through perseverance and an unbreakable spirit, the young player had successfully turned a career-threatening injury into a stepping stone for growth. As we continue to cheer on Minh Quân’s journey on the pitch, his story stands as a testament to the power of resilience, patience, and self-care – valuable lessons for any aspiring athlete.
